| Position Overview
The Law Clerk will gain valuable legal writing experience and business experience in this full time or part time position. In this role, you work with a full scale of our disabled clientele as you help to expedite claim(s) within the Social Security system. You will conduct interviews, and gather and evaluate medical evidence with the ultimate goal of drafting compelling legal briefs, specifically motions for summary judgment. You will also be providing support to fellow associates and Attorneys in the realm of Social Security Disability Advocacy. The position is ideal for a law student looking to gain experience in any aspect of disability law.
Responsibilities Include:
Evaluating claims that fit a potentially dire need category and/or other claims that are subject to review via motions for summary judgment.
Obtain and evaluate all necessary documentation in order to support the legal brief and prove the case that an On-The-Record decision can and should be made prior to the need for a hearing at the administrative court level.
Write and submit briefs to Administrative Law Judges using the HALLEX guidelines (Hearing and Appeals Law Litigation Manual)
Write motions for summary judgments for regional Attorneys and submit them to the Administrative Law Judges with supporting medical evidence
Request and obtain medical records in a timely manner and conduct diligent follow through
Follow up and respond in a timely manner to all client questions relating to non-legal aspects of the case

Experience working in insurance, advocacy, or with government agencies
Experience working in an environment where both metrics and behaviors are closely measured and reported
Experience with databases
