Construction Process Improvement Engineer

Description:

Will be responsible for defining, designing and implementing productivity improvement programs for the company’s construction projects and to ensure the programs are integrated and supported vertically and horizontally across the organization. Analyzes improvement programs and potential results. Facilitates and coaches teams. Establishes and maintains performance metrics to measure program success. Installs process excellence supports for program governance, project reviews, communications, training, certifications and rewards. Defines improvement projects aligned with business strategies.

Program objective will include, but not be limited to testing and deploying new equipment, new crew configurations and enhanced support operations to achieve an improvement in field crew productivity that ultimately results in a sustainable lower total cost per unit installed.,

Additional responsibilities will include responsibility for identifying productivity and quality improvement opportunities across all operational areas of the business and converting those opportunities into bottom line efficiencies.

Duties:

Work Performed:
1. Advises Company Management on processes and procedures which will enable the Company to make the most profitable and productive use of its personnel and equipment resources.
2. Develops, installs and maintains equitable standards and metrics as the measure of work performance for all applicable operations and measures variances to identify significant variations, recommends solutions, installs such solutions and performs follow-up to insure full compliance.
3. Participates at initial phase of new projects to assist in the design of cost-effective methods, procedures and operations relying on comprehensive ergonomic, material handling and construction methodologies.
4. Studies existing operations and procedures to identify waste, develop ROI analysis and improve profitability.
5. Provides on-site process evaluation expertise to improve quality and efficiency.
6. Works directly with crews and provides the appropriate level of training to ensure that improvements are properly implemented and sustained.
7. Performs timely inspections to ensure that assignments and goals are completed.
8. Keeps abreast of the changes in technology, investigates, and recommends the most effective methods of construction to keep the Company at the leading, competitive edge of construction technology at all times.
9. Assists with the development of management information systems for process improvement planning and control purposes.

Responsibility and Authority:
Maintains good employee relations with all employees, reviews job and project performance and efficiency, trains when appropriate and necessary.

1. Materials and/or Products:
May be responsible for recommending materials and/or products, when appropriate for individual projects.

2. Equipment:
May be responsible for recommending equipment when assigned to do so.

3. Business Contacts:
Has extensive internal and external contacts with employees, vendors and customers. Meets with top management personnel to present ideas, programs and new operating procedures when appropriate.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
1. A BS Degree in Mechanical and/or Industrial Engineering with a graduate degree in an applicable discipline highly desirable.
2. Five to eight years of direct work experience and responsibility in an Industrial Engineering or process improvement position, preferably in a construction company environment.
3. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Demonstrated excellent computer skills, with a wide variety of construction industry applications.
